    Micro Hair Transplant

Hair loss is basically caused by the combination of ageing, family history and the presence of androgens. As a rule, baldness will be more severe if it appears when the individual is very young.

    Hair loss

Erroneous information blames poor circulation of the scalp, muscular tensions, vitamins deficiency, use of caps etc for hair loss. The combination of family history of baldness, androgens and time is the real cause for Androgenetic Baldness, which is the main reason for men’s baldness.

    Planning

There is a treatment for each individual client. The surgeon will evaluate hair growth, hair loss and family history in the first consultation discussing your expectations about the procedure. Medical conditions that may cause problems during or after the surgery such as high blood pressure, coagulation problems or the tendency to suffer from excessive scarring should also be evaluated in this consultation with the surgeon. Please remember to tell the surgeon if you smoke or if you are taking any drug or medication, especially aspirin or other drugs affecting coagulation.

    First consultation

With Beauty Renaissance, the first consultation with the surgeon is always free of charge. The surgeon will analyze the client’s condition and the best way to modify the excess of adipose tissue.

Therefore, the surgeon will professionally advise the best solution for the client in respect of the procedure to be performed and the best process.

The surgeon will also dissipate any doubt the client may have and will indicate the expectations with respect to the final results of the treatment.

Where will the procedure be done?

The procedure is generally performed at the surgeon’s consultation office in 95% of cases.

    Anesthesia

Hair micro transplant procedure is done with local anesthesia and intravenous sedation so that the patient may feel comfortable and relaxed.

    The Procedure

Hair micro transplant consists in removing a scalp area from the back or lateral region of the head, obtaining hundreds of micro-grafts with one to five hairs per graft. These grafts will be placed in the superior region of head through micro-incisions that will have one graft each. After the session is completed, the scalp will be covered with humid gauze and bandages for 48 hours, or a protective gel depending on the magnitude of the procedure.

    Back to normal

In general, the client may resume working activities (sedentary) between three to five days after the procedure.

    The Best Candidates

Hair micro transplant surgery can enhance your looks and self-esteem. Before deciding on the procedure, think about your expectations thoroughly and discuss them with us.

It is important to understand that all replacement techniques use existing hair. The surgery aims to determine the most efficient applications for the existing hair.

Candidates for hair replacement should have healthy hair growth in the back and lateral side of the head. Other factors, such as hair colour, texture and hair waves can also affect the cosmetic result. There are many techniques used in hair replacement procedures. Sometimes, two or more techniques may be used to get the best result.

Transplant techniques such as mini-grafts, micro-grafts, and grafts from donor area are generally made on clients who desire a more subtle change. The expansions of scalp, as well as proceedings made for reduction of bald areas are the most appropriate procedures for those clients who want a more dramatic change.

Please have in mind that we cannot go beyond limits. Individuals who have little or very thin hair are not good candidates for this surgery.

    Hair Loss in Women

Some studies reveal that one of five women will have a certain degree of hair loss generally caused by ageing, diseases or hormonal changes after menopause. Women tend to present a more uniform hair loss in all scalp area different to the one found in men which is more defined. Some women will wear a wig or hair extensions as a temporary solution to the problem. Other women also use a local perceptive drug successfully. The efficiently of such drugs varies in some patients and only prevents additional hair loss without stimulating any noticeable new growth. The hair replacement procedure can be the best result for women who do not feel comfortable with any of these options. Mini-grafts are generally the best treatment to fill affected areas; good candidates for this procedure should have dense hair grow in the back area of the head. Mini-grafts are taken from this dense zone and placed onto areas with insufficient hair to give a more dense aspect. If you are considering a hair replacement procedure, it is important to understand that you will never have the coverage you had before the hair loss but the procedure can disguise and give a more plentiful look.

In micro-transplant procedures, there is one risk: that grafts may not "take root" although a transitory hair loss is normal due to a kind of "transplant shock". Additional procedures for keeping results will be needed when the loss of original hair progresses after the procedure.

    Preparation

The surgeon will give you specific instructions about your preparation for the procedure and will advise you on your diet, as well as to take and avoid taking certain vitamins and medications. If you smoke, it is especially important to stop smoking at least one or two weeks before the procedure. Smoking inhibits the blood flow to the skin and can interfere with the healing mechanisms.

    After Care

Post recovery depends on the complexity of the procedure. Any pain, excessive tension or palpitation can be controlled with pain-relief medication. In general, if bandages are used they will be removed 24 to 48 hours later. You can wash your hair gently two days after. Stitches of donor zone will be removed in two weeks.

All procedures can carry some risk

The procedure for hair replacement is generally safe when it is done by a well experienced and qualified surgeon. Individuals vary from each other regarding physical reactions and healing and results can never be completely reliable.

Infection may occur as in any other procedure. Excessive bleeding and/or wide scars caused by tension may occur due to some procedures made for the reduction of alopecic areas.
